Never danced? The zombies didn’t either. The teacher builds the routine around your group as it goes.
The dance everyone has half-learned already
Almost everyone has attempted the Thriller dance at some point — at a school disco, a Halloween party, a cousin’s wedding at one in the morning. Very few have ever been shown it properly. That gap is the whole appeal of a Thriller hen party dance class: the group finally learns the claw hands, the shoulder shrugs and the sideways zombie shuffle in the right order, and the result looks brilliantly creepy on video.
The teacher takes inspiration from the original choreography without insisting on a copy, and builds the routine around your group so it suits the space and the people in it. Guests with no dance experience get clear counts and simple versions; the braver ones can take on the head snaps and the hip-thrust kick. Getting a move slightly wrong only makes a zombie more convincing.
It’s a clever pick for a bride who loves a bit of theatre, or for an autumn hen close to Halloween, though it works any time of year. On a list of hen party ideas it’s memorable without being cheesy, and among hen party activities in Dudley it hands the group an instant party trick to unleash at the wedding reception.
We teach in a room we hire near Dudley town centre, or the teacher can come to a venue you’ve arranged elsewhere in the Black Country. The room and the class land on one written quote together.
From school-disco attempt to proper zombie
A shape, not a script
Wake the dead
A warm-up of slow, creaky stretches that gradually turns into the first shuffling steps.
Claws and shrugs
The signature arm shapes, shoulder pops and head tilts, broken down and drilled with plenty of laughs.
The horde forms
Everything pieced into a group routine, with the bride as lead zombie out front.
Rise for the camera
A final full-energy performance on film, ending in a frozen, snarling group pose.

yoursWhy ninety suits Thriller: the zombie walk relies on everyone moving in eerie unison, and the longer session lets the horde practise until the shuffles and claws line up rather than looking like a queue at the bar.
Claws, shrugs and a proper zombie march for everyone, with the cost of the venue shown next to it on a single quote.
Tracks from the crypt to start your five
Thriller is the reason most hordes get in touch, so it tends to sit first on the list, but these are ideas rather than a running order. Send us five songs ranked by preference — more MJ, a Halloween classic, whatever suits your zombies — and your instructor selects one of them before the class and sets the claws and shuffles to it.
How songs work: once you’ve booked, send us your top five songs in order of preference, and your instructor picks one from your list before the class.

encoreThriller on a Dudley hen weekend
Pick an afternoon slot and there’s time for a look round the Black Country Living Museum or the zoo beforehand, then a meal and a night out afterwards — in Dudley or a quick train ride into Birmingham. Ripped shirts, red jackets and zombie face paint are fun if the group organises them from their own wardrobes and make-up bags; plain comfy clothes work fine too.
Anyone travelling in from Oldbury, Stourbridge, Coseley or further away? Mention it on the form and we’ll suggest a start time that allows for the journey. It’s the same hen do dance class fee whatever your final numbers, and a large dance hen party can be split into two hordes that advance on each other before the finale.
Screams of approval
I thought I knew the Thriller dance. I did not. By the end all twelve of us had it and the video is terrifying in the best way.
Simple to arrange, and the price came with the room already sorted. Worth doing the ninety; the zombie shuffle takes a while to come together.
We did it the weekend before Halloween with face paint and everything. Our teacher was patient, funny and very good.
Is it the exact music-video routine, step for step?
You’ll learn moves inspired by it — the claws, the shrugs, the shuffle — shaped into a routine that suits your group. The teacher adapts rather than copying it step for step, so beginners can keep up.
Does a zombie-themed hen class only make sense in October?
Not at all. It’s spooky enough to feel special in October but works just as well in spring or summer. The dance is the fun part, whatever the season.
Can we turn up dressed as zombies for the class?
Please do, if you fancy it. Torn clothes and face paint look great on the final video. Rags and fake blood are down to you, though; costumes and make-up aren’t something we bring along.
Are the Thriller zombie moves hard on the knees?
They don’t need to be. The deep crouches all have an upright version, and the teacher checks for injuries at the start so nobody is pushed beyond what feels comfortable.
What does the whole horde pay for the Thriller session?
The whole horde pays one fee between them: £190 for ninety minutes or £165 for sixty, and the venue’s charge for the room sits on the same written quote.
Where is the Thriller class held in Dudley?
In a room we hire near Dudley town centre with space for the whole horde to shuffle. Got your own space with room for a zombie line-up? The teacher will happily come to you.
